If you're seeing the error "421 Message from x.x.x.x temporarily deferred - 4.16.50", in your SMTP logs (where x.x.x.x is your IP address), this indicates that emails from your mail server have been generating substantial complaints from Yahoo! If you are the administrator for the message content or mailing policies, we ask that you review outgoing messages for potentially objectionable content or practices. Delivery error: Sorry your message to email@domain.com cannot be delivered. This account has been disabled or discontinued
554 5.7.5 (AU01) Message not accepted for policy reasons   Click for help & fix
If you are not the system administrator for the mail servers affected, we encourage you to contact the administrator, so they can look into the issue further.

This error message indicates that your email wasn't accepted because it failed authentication checks against your sending domain's DomainKeys or DKIM policy. DomainKeys and its successor, DKIM, are email authentication technologies, which ensure emails really come from their claimed domain.

We only reject emails for failing DomainKeys or DKIM authentication when both of these conditions apply:
  • The signing domain (i.e., as identified in the "d=" tag of the DomainKeys/DKIM signature) has given us explicit indication that all emails from the domain must be signed and authenticated with DomainKeys and/or DKIM to prevent forgery.
  • The rejected email couldn't be authenticated against the sending domain's policy (e.g., due to a missing or bad signature).
We recommend that you contact your domain's mail administrator and make them aware of the problem.
554 Message not allowed - [320]   Click for help & fix
This error message indicates that your email was not accepted because the mail in question may contain characteristics that Yahoo! Mail will not accept for policy reasons. For instance, it is against Yahoo! Mail's policy to accept messages with malicious content or manipulated header information, such as a falsified origination point, altered sending date, or forged email address.

If you are the administrator for the message content or mailing policies, we ask that you review outgoing messages for potentially objectionable content or practices. Please know that Yahoo! is unable to disclose specific information regarding our filtering practices; however, we do publish recommended guidelines at this page for review.
