Hotmail bounce message 550 DY-001
Mail rejected by Outlook for policy reasons. We generally do not accept email from dynamic IP's as they are not typically used to deliver unauthenticated SMTP email to an Internet mail server. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your Email/Internet Service Provider for help. http://www.spamhaus.org maintains lists of dynamic and residential IP addresses.
Stop all this jibber jabber, what does it mean?
Hotmail only accepts email from official SMTP servers and according to Hotmail, you have been trying to send email to Hotmail users with a server or computer that is not a real SMTP server.
Did I do something wrong?
Most likely yes. It is also possible that you have a virus on your computer that was trying to send email to Hotmail users without your knowledge.
How can I fix this?
- Double check the settings in your email software and ensure you are using a real SMTP server for your outgoing email.
- Scan your computer for possible virusses and remove them if your computer appears to be infected.
- If you are certain you have fixed the problem but you are still getting this error, contact hotmail: http://mail.live.com/mail/postmaster.aspx
